GHMC SE Caught Taking ₹15 Lakh Bribe in Kukatpally Zone

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday caught Podduturi Chinna Reddy, Superintending Engineer (SE) and Zonal Commissioner, Kukatpally Zone of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), while demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹15 lakh. According to ACB officials, the bribe was accepted through S.L. Balasani Praveen Kumar, a computer operator engaged on an outsourcing basis, from a complainant seeking official clearance of works executed and processing of bills amounting to ₹1.40 crore. The tainted amount of ₹15 lakh was recovered from the possession of Praveen Kumar at the instance of Chinna Reddy. Both officials allegedly abused their official positions and acted dishonestly to obtain undue advantage. They were arrested and produced before the Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Nampally, and were remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway.
